Welcome to Shipeland
...the place for all the history and happenings in the vicinity of John Shipe--a musical artist from Eugene, Oregon. Take off your coat and stay awhile. There's music scattered all over the site, for your listening pleasure while you peruse the news, views, and other clues.
Here it is
The New CD
As of March 2006, Shipe is now a solo act. But the lastest album, "John Shipe & The Blue Rebekahs," released in December 2005, is definitely the product of a rock band. (It reveals extremely diverse creative backgrounds within the collaboration.) Shipe and the Rebekahs played a couple of excitable CD release mini-tours, before dissolving the electric band. As a solo act, Shipe continues to pound pavement in promotion of this proud project.
Meanwhile, the new album steadily works its way into the public as only an indie album can--getting help from a handful of favorable reviews and modest airplay for "Disneyville," "Underground Debutante," "Coffee House Gig," and Chatto's "Self Respect."

What now, Shipe?
Taking a breather from the rigors of managing a full band. Leaving myself more time to write new material, of which there are two dozen songs so far, being recorded in the semi-acoustic environment of my home studio. (Samples to appear in the Spring.)
I'm also at work on a thoroughly right-brained Avant-Garde project which may or may not ever see the light of day.
I vow NOT to gather up a band of electric musicians until I can provide them with at least 90 minutes of fresh, quality composition to sink their teeth into. Something that stretches Shipe further than Shipe is supposed to stretch. (Estimated time: Summer 2007)
